This purpose of this guide is to highlight solar eclipse resources available through the OCC Libraries. Additionally, due to the Orchard Ridge library's designation as a selective federal depository library, many featured sources lead to resources from NASA, the Smithsonian, and more! We hope this guide broadens your knowledge about the upcoming total solar eclipse!

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. Check out NASA's Eclipse Explorer to learn what will be visible in different areas and more! Source: NASA
