About Great Michigan Read

OCC Libraries are pleased to join over 300 libraries, schools, and other literacy partners by participating in The Great Michigan Read, a one-book initiative sponsored by the Michigan Humanities Council

This year’s selection, Annie's Ghosts : a Journey Into a Family Secret by Steve Luxenberg is part memoir, part detective story, and part history. Employing his skills as a journalist, Luxenberg seeks to uncover the secrecy surrounding an aunt he never knew existed. The author’s search for the truth takes him back to Europe, Depression-era Detroit, and eventually Eloise Asylum in Westland, where Annie and others like her lived and died in anonymity.

Join us in March for a series of book discussions and related events. SDUs will be available and all are welcome, including community members. Watch the OCC website and your email  for more details!
