Collection Policy
The Oakland Community College Archives is looking for material relating to the College's history. Our mission is to collect and preserve materials which trace the origins, organization, policies, operations, history, and development of Oakland Community College. We welcome donations of items such as:
Reports | Photographs | Official Records |
Personal Papers | Meeting Minutes | College Publications |
Videos | Flyers | Maps, Etc. |
Collection Methods
Materials are acquired primarily through donations and non-cash gifts. The Archives staff and/or designated College personnel will formalize the transfer of property and copyright through the completion of a deed of gift form.
We rely on the goodwill and assistance of college and departmental offices, and members of the OCC community to help grow the collection; and we are happy to set up meetings or go to campus offices to assess potential donations.
The relevancy of the content of the donation as it relates to the Collection Development Policy, the condition of the materials, and potential restrictions on access will be considered and evaluated before acceptance. All materials accepted will be arranged, described, and made available according to current archival standards and practices.
Donating Materials
The Archives accepts donations and non-cash gifts that fit within the Collection Development Policy. If there are materials you wish to donate or would like further information please email the College Archivist or call 248-232-4470.
