Validating the Infopass Form
The borrower must present valid identification from his/her home institution, as well as the Infopass slip and must present the Infopass for use within ten (10) calendar days of its issuance in order for it to be honored. If you have any questions about the form's legitimacy, ask a Reference Librarian.
There is a section on the Infopass form where it says: Borrowing privileges requested?______ If so, limited to _______ items. If restrictions have been noted on the form, we must comply.
Creating a Patron Record in Horizon for Infopass
Use the Horizon borrower type (btype) Infopas and issue the student an OCC patron card. All library cards with the btype Infopas will automatically expire in one (1) month. Loan periods and restrictions match that of the Infopas btype category.
Returning Materials and Renewals
The Infopass form must be surrendered when it is used. If the borrower would like to renew the materials, a new Infopass must be obtained from the home library. Advise the student that the materials must be returned to an OCC Library, not to their home institution. If they do not return them directly to us, overdue charges may accrue.
Overdue Materials
Users from other libraries who borrow under this agreement will be notified directly in cases of overdue notices, recall notices, etc. The home (referring) library, as well as the Infopass user, should be notified at the same time as the user when the user is sent overdue bills. Any uncollected fines, replacement costs or other charges become the responsibility of the home (referring) library after normal notification periods employed by OCC have elapsed, and after OCC has determined that the fees and other charges are uncollectable. Any decision within participating academic institutions about placement of 'registration holds' are entirely at the discretion of the home library.
